What’s wrong with it? Well so far: 1) leaking transmission pilot bearing has seeped oil through the harness into the TCM. 2) the output speed sensor on the trans is faulty 3) the camshaft position sensors have seeped oil through the entire engine harness and has gotten into the ECM 4) a mouse has chewed a whole bunch of wires in the trunk of the car and subsequently died in the spare tire well. 5) one of the convertible pressure lines has blown apart and coated the rear SAM in hydraulic fluid 6) the rear flex disc has large cracks and is about to blow apart 7) the lower control arm bushings are toast 8) the tensioner has worn enough to push the belt almost off the edge and the idlers are loose. 9) the centrifuge cover is leaking 10) there’s probably something else I’ve missed

E350 diesel...
Originally he had the lug nuts backwards likely under torqued. They started to snap some studs as they loosened and the rim moved around. The rim has a cover that goes over it so all the studs/nuts just bounced around in the cover. I was terrified pulling it into the shop as all the studs are pretty much worn through.

Back story: new guy, second year apprentice, made the same mistake the day before. No one was hurt, wasn’t his box, car went across the shop. He was fired, company is buying him a new box.

...the customer over tightened the lug nuts to the point that the rim was being reamed out, and the ends of the lugs started flattening like in the picture. Had to replace all 5 because they would not fit on the studs anymore. Customer also ordered a new tire iron because he broke his putting the spare on. He also managed to nearly strip out the lock key. So what should have been a 5 minute job turned into a half hour...

Nissan says to replace the entire hatch...
I removed the interior panel which exposed the rest of the insert, grabbed it with vise grips. Then got ahold of the bolt and turned it out, little by little. Rethreaded and put the new bolts in... I’m surprised it worked actually

I assume they tried swapping the solenoids but realized the bolts wouldn’t line up so they just zip tied them in place, also the red wire is literally soldered to a metal zip tie that goes around both solenoids for a ground I assume

Solution: Told the customer we couldn’t replicate the problem, directed her to Nissan in the hopes that they’d have someone brave enough to risk certain death by telling her the truth...

I wonder if you could get around the as-is law, and successfully sue the seller of the V10 full of gear lube? That’s pretty clear evidence that they were hiding a known problem.

You’d have to prove they knew. That would be very difficult.
But if the seller is an “expert,” either a used car salesman or a technician, they’re considered an expert so you could argue they should have and did know and thus committed fraud.

No, that kind of rim with two different lug patterns.
